The Elementary and Secondary Education Department, Government Of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced revised school timings from 02-01-2023 to 31-01-2023 in the wake of foggy and harsh weather conditions. The new timings have been implemented as a result of cancellation of winter vacations extension by the KP Government, unlike Punjab where winter vacations were extended up to 8th January 2023 due to cold and foggy weather.

It pertinent to mention here that the safety of students the utmost priority for the government and it must ensured that all necessary measures taken for their protection and well being during this weather. All school authorities instructed to take all necessary precautions following these revised timings.

It expected that this decision help ensure better learning environment in schools, and students gain maximum benefit out of the academic year without any break due to foggy or harsh weather conditions.

New School Timing for KP

  • Primary Schools: 09:15 AM to 01:30 PM
  • Middle / Higher and Higher Secondary Schools: 09.00 AM to 02.30 PM

Schools in KP set to start a new school timings system from 2023. The new timings divided into three categories – morning, afternoon and evening – with the objective of providing a more convenient learning environment for students and staff.

The proposed morning session will begin at 8 am and end at 11 am, while the afternoon session will start at 1 pm and conclude at 4 pm. The evening session will run from 5 pm to 8 pm. All sessions planned to take place five days a week, except during holidays or when there is no school activity taking place.

The introduction of these new timings expected to bring about positive changes in terms of increased efficiency in teaching practices andimproved student attention and engagement. Italso expected to reduce the amount of time students spend commuting to school, as well as decrease energy consumption in the classroom due to reduced heat and ventilation needs.
