List of Public Holidays for 2023 – Federal Govt of Pakistan

The Federal Government of Pakistan has announced the list of public holidays for 2023. The list includes holidays for Muslim festivals, national holidays and provincial holidays. Muslim festivals: Eid-ul-Fitr – 1st Shawwal 1424Eid-ul-Adha – 10th Zulhijja 1424Provincial holidays: Pakistan Day – 23rd March Independence Day – 14th August Quaid-e-Azzam’s Birthday – 25th December National holidays: Labor Day – 1st May

Due to the large number of Friday and Saturday public holidays in 2023, there will be longer weekends. There will be extended weekends for both workers and students because of Friday and Saturday.

Bank Holidays for 2023

The days after that are bank holidays. Banks, DFIs, and MFBs will not be open to the general public on certain days, although they ARE open to their staff.

Holidays for 2023 Optional

No government employee shall be awarded more than one optional holiday for Muslims and three optional holidays for non-Muslims in a calendar year. Government employees who wish to take advantage of optional holidays must obtain prior approval from the Head of Office concerned.

There shouldn’t be any job disruption as a result of the concession’s award. In the case of Muslim optional holidays, the number of people who are allowed to take them should be limited in a way that ensures there is enough staff on hand to ensure the appropriate continuation of the job.
